Bryggernes Plads in Carlsberg Byen, Copenhagen

In Carlsberg City in Copenhagen, the city’s “Rådhusplads”, Bryggernes Plads, has become one of the most central urban spaces in the neighborhood.

Surrounded by iconic buildings such as the old Lagerkælder 3 and Maltmagasinet – and the new Theodora and Christen Hus, Bryggernes Plads offers 5,000 m2 of amphitheater, spa, restaurants, housing, offices and shops on the ground floor, as well as Hotel Otillia in the listed warehouses.

Gravmand A/S was responsible for the paving, which is made of granite and Lithomex L20 and L50 strength joints. L20 strength joints are used in all areas with light and medium traffic. Lithomex’s strong L50 strength joint is used where there is a fire road across the site – this allows heavy trucks, including fire engines, to cross the site without affecting the attractive paving.

Lithomex’s L-Series products create a beautiful and strong joint that is easy to clean and resists sweeping and washing machines. Similarly, there is no need to spray or burn away weeds, as they cannot penetrate Lithomex’s strength joints.

Bryggernes Plads has become an open and inviting urban space that is a natural gathering place for visitors and residents in the new Carlsberg City. Gravmand A/S‘ paving contractors have done a fantastic job of making the old historic square light up with patterns.
