Bus Rapid Transit project in Aalborg
High population growth puts pressure on traffic infrastructure.
That’s why Aalborg Municipality, as the first municipality in Denmark, has invested in a Bus Rapid Transit project to improve public bus transportation on a 12 km route. long stretch from Racing Arena Aalborg, through the city center, to the New Aalborg University Hospital. It is on this stretch that growth is primarily concentrated in Aalborg.
Along the route,up to 50,000 inhabitants will live less than 500 meters from the BRT connection. The total travel time, in the traffic-free lane with traffic light prioritization, lasts about 30 minutes for the 150-200 people each bus can accommodate.
A large part of the project is the establishment of station forecourts, including at John F Kennedy Square, and here Lithomex strength joints have been used on selected station forecourts and adjacent areas, as they want hard and maintenance-free joints that can withstand the high volume of traffic and minimize the risk of falls.
