Joint material calculator
In our joint calculator, by entering the required
information get an estimate of the amount of jointing material needed for your construction or renovation project.
Our joint material calculator guides you in terms of joint material,
joint width and joint depth, so you can always be sure that your pavement joints are dimensioned for the intended use and traffic load.
The estimated consumption of jointing material is based on the entered
information. Do the actual conditions differ from those entered
information, the estimate of joint material will not be accurate.
Lithomex notes that the estimated consumption of
jointing material is for guidance only.

EASY joint sand
Polymer bonded jointing sand that hardens to a hard and firm joint when in contact with water
Quicksand - for narrow joints
Vacuum-packed jointing sand mixed with a special plant-based adhesive that hardens into a hard and firm joint on contact with air. Minimum 3 mm joint width
Quicksand - for wide joints
Vacuum-packed jointing sand mixed with a special plant-based adhesive that hardens into a hard and firm joint on contact with air. Minimum 6 mm joint width

Easy jointing sand is the ideal jointing material for patios, walkways and driveways where a flexible, bonded joint with a minimum of weeds is required. • Can be used for natural, brick, concrete and sandstone surfaces. • Intended for areas with less foot and vehicle traffic • Ready-mixed, ready to use and easy to sweep out • Binder activates with water to form a weed-inhibiting joint • Hardens into a hard elastic flexible joint that stabilises the pavement • Resists frost
Lithomex Quicksand is the ideal jointing material for pedestrian and light traffic areas where a firm, reinforcing and stabilizing joint is required - free from weeds. • Can be used for natural, brick, concrete and sandstone surfaces • Cures on contact with air to a firm, weed-free and permeable joint • Intended for pedestrian and light traffic areas • Ready-mixed, ready to use • No machinery or licence required • Resists frost

Lithomex Strength Joint is the ideal jointing material for areas with varying joint widths and where a strong, firm joint - free from weeds - is required. • Hardens into a hard and firm weed-free and permeable joint • Intended for areas with pedestrian and light traffic • Slightly permeable (water permeable) • Resistant to frost, salting and UV • Resists suction/sweeping machines

DS 1136 jointing sand consists of clean-washed, nutrient-poor and oven-dried quartz sand without added pH-regulating agents. • Can be used for all types of paving stones • Can be used for areas with all types of traffic loads
Dimensions
The joint depth should always be more than twice the joint width
We recommend a minimum joint depth of 30 mm
The joint depth must not exceed the stone height
This type of joint should use the same joint depth as the stone height
Contact Lithomex for advice if your strength joint's joint width needs to exceed 50 mm
Did you know that if you increase the joint depth to half the stone depth, the pavement can also be used for light traffic?
Did you know that if you increase the joint depth to half the stone depth, the pavement can also be used for medium-heavy traffic?
Did you know that if you increase the joint depth to half the stone depth, the pavement can also be used for heavy traffic?
When this joint is to be used for traffic, the joint depth should be at least half the height of the stone.
